To play or not to play?

My friend Jen suggested we have Andrew play soccer with her little boy Caden. He has never played soccer before but we thought he would enjoy it. Here is a clip of his first practice game.

Andrew has always loved playing with balls so this was not what I expected out of his first soccer experience!

One Year!

Britton at one year! (even though he is 13 months already)

We love our little B. He is crawling, cruising, and has started walking with help and walking toys! He has such an easy going personality, although he has definitely turned one and knows what he wants. He says mommy and daddy and sometimes I think I hear Andrew from him. Instead of saying ball he says catch and says it a lot. I can't believe how grown up he is getting. For Britton's birthday, I found this cute cake on the make it and love it website. I thought I would try my hand at it and make him a bug cake since we always call him Britton Bug. It was yummy and cute, just what I would have wanted for Britton. We had a fun birthday party with a pinata, balloons, cake and ice cream, family, and friends.

We had a blast this year at Taylorsville Dayzz. I worked Friday night and was a bit sleep deprived during the parade but we still had a great time. We sit under the overpass so we don't get burned to a crisp (thanks to KaeDee and Jacob for saving seats at 6 am). Andrew had the same problem as years passed...he doesn't like the noise. He kept his ears covered most of the time. The noise didn't bother Britton. He had a grand time. He loved the music and especially love the motorcycle cops and sirens. The park was fun. We had dinner with Isaac's family and got a call from my parents saying they were about to the park so we met them in the parking lot. We got tickets so Andrew could go to the petting zoo, but to our surprise, he wanted to ride the ferris wheel and the space ship rides. He had a great time on both rides. Isaac assured me he would keep a hold on him on the ferris wheel. It was finally time for the Beattles concert. Andrew and Britton danced right along with the music. Andrew is quite the little dancer. During the intermission, we saw four sky divers jump from a plane and land in the ball field. Then it came time for the fireworks. Andrew had ear plugs in and did alright. Britton was intrigued at the beginning but lost interest pretty quickly. The fireworks are amazing. We always get to see a finale and then a grand finale. What a great time to spend as a family. It was a great treat to have Grandma and Grandpa Thornton join us as well.

We took Aunt EmEm to the MTC today to be dropped off for her mission to New York. I cried like crazy because I am losing a good friend and Andrew's best friend to date. She has been such a good support this last year since Britton joined our family. I don't know what I would have done without her. I guess I have to figure that out now. Well, here she is on the drive down and leaving us (with the Elder's getting her cute luggage for her). Good luck Aunt EmEm! See you in 18 months! We will miss you!

Andrew is so ready to have Britton be old enough and capable of playing with him. I have found him sitting closer to and interacting with him more. I love watching them together and Britton loves watching his older brother!

Welcome Winter!

Andrew has always loved the snow, especially shoveling it. Now, he has taken to shoveling the snow from the grass onto the sidewalks much to Isaac's dismay. I love his rosy cheeks in the cold weather. Britton just loves being outside! It is fun to have a little snow since it is winter.

One of my favorite times of the year is fall. Our yard is perfect for this time of year because we have a lot of beautiful trees with A LOT of leaves. Andrew was excited to jump in the leaves telling me he was going to jump off the roof. I definitely didn't let him jump off of the roof, but he did have a fun time playing in them. Britton was not so fond of the leaves. He initially wasn't quite sure about them and then started eating them and then started screaming. Maybe next year he will want to jump in too!

Halloween 2009

We had a lot of fun this October especially with Halloween. My sister-in-law suggested we be a crayon box as our theme for the Halloween carnival this year so I started searching for ideas and came up with an idea for the costume. Isaac came up with the soccer cones for the hat. Andrew's grey crayon costume came first and each one to follow. It took a while to sew all of the costumes, but I think that it turned out really fun!

Andrew was watching Sid the Science Kid on PBS the other day and they were talking about rain and using umbrella's in the rain. Andrew caught on quickly and started using the word Umbrella. Interestingly it rained that day so he made sure to have me find one for him to use.

Any time I lay Britton down on any chair, I turn around to find Andrew climbing up next to him. Andrew loves to be close to Britton and Britton is starting to tolerate the closeness a little bit more.

3 months old!

Britton is already 3 months old! I can't believe how time flies. He is a smiley little guy. He loves to show off how strong he is by standing up and not wobbling too much. He cooes when he is talked or sung to. I think he is becoming more fond of his big brother; he watches everywhere he walks when he is in the room and smiles at him when he talks to him. We love our little Britton bug!

Potty Training?

We received a potty chair from Isaac's cousin a while ago and thought we should get it out to have Andrew get used to the idea of going potty. He went one night, lost interest, then went again one other night. Well, tonight we were laying down to go to bed and Andrew said "I ooeey" so we checked to see if his pullup was wet or poopy which it wasn't. We were going to disregard this, but then he was very insistant and jumping out of his bed. I took him into the bathroom and he proceeded to go peepee in the potty. I was so proud of him! This picture on the potty chair cracks me up. He is in his diaper, reading a pottery barn kids magazine, and sucking a dumdum. My little multitasker!

Britton is already 2 months old! We had his doctors appointment yesterday. He is 14 pounds 10 ounces and 24.5 inches long. We actually hit the charts this time coming in at 94% on weight and 96% on height. We also blessed him on July 19th. Isaac did a wonderful job on the blessing. Britton cried a little. Andrew sat still with a dum-dum. What more could I ask for? We had a fun party with family and friends afterwards, welcoming Britton into our family!

Our Garden

We planted a garden at the beginning of May in a tiny section of our yard after being instructed to by our stake president (and like we should anyway). I have never planted a garden so Andrew, Isaac, and I worked on getting the weeds pulled and Isaac planted tomato plants zucchini plants, and cucumber plants. Yes, it is a little bit overgrown, but I am amazed when I look at it. We have had several zucchini already but today I picked the first ripe tomatoes.....way exciting to me. My sister-in-law, Emily, thinks I am just as excited about the garden as I was about my new child...similar feelings, but the child of course wins out on that one. We also have an apricot tree and two apple trees that Isaac has been spraying and the fruit on them is out of control. I don't love apricots, but these have been pretty good.

I love how Britton's room turned out. The safari theme seems quite popular for little boys clothes and rooms lately and I have always loved giraffes so I fell for this bedding. I finally got the vinyl lettering up on the wall so here is the final result and the cute little guy in his crib.

Andrew loves Britton. He calls him beebee, long for baby! This morning I was feeding Britton and Andrew took his hat off of his head and put it on the baby. He then put on daddy's hat that is the same as his. I had to get a picture of them together because it was so cute. Andrew loves to hold him even if it is for just a second. He loves to give him kisses and to pat his head. He has decided his job is to help burp the baby and I let him do so with a reminder that he has to be soft.

The time seems to fly by without noticing and without any sleep! I can't believe Britton is 2 weeks old already. We had his appointment with the pediatrician who called him "STUDLY". He weighed in at 8 pounds 6 ounces and he looks great. We sure think he is a stud...and really adorable at the same time. He is a great baby. He eats, has manly burps when we can get them out, and sleeps...Oh what a good boy!

I was having a hard time keeping Andrew's clothes clean when he eats with the bibs that you can buy in stores. My mother-in-law had a bib she used that was a hand towel that would velcro onto cupboards or the fridge so I decided to make some of my own...here are the results...I love them! As long as I can keep them on my silly boy they do a great job!

We finally decided to work a little on a garden in the back yard. Andrew was right in the middle of helping with the work. He loves to be "outs". I love that he wants to be right with us all of the time and loves to be active and outdoors.

Easter Fun

The Easter Bunny brought Andrew a fun basket this year! He got eggs with candy in them, a Berentstein Bears DVD, bubbles, and his own little drill. He loved it all, but especially the drill!

I worked the night shift leading into Easter Sunday, but I still wanted to go to church to be reminded of the real reason for the Easter Holiday. We had a wonderful musical sacrament meeting and it was nice to be at church despite the lack of sleep. After church we went over to granny and grandpas house for other fun activities including the egg toss from the roof and tossing Andrew in the towel.

Coloring Easter Eggs

We had a fun time coloring Easter Eggs this year. Andrew wanted to throw them all down and crack them before we dyed them, but we managed to save a few to color. He didn't like that he dyed his hands and wanted them clean as soon as we were done. Aunt Tawny was staying the night with us so she got to share in the fun!

On April Fool's Day, I got a call from Isaac saying the Accord had died in a park while he was studying for his accounting class. He had called his brother to come and jump it and it hadn't worked. He came home and after a few hours he went back to the park to try to tow it home with his dad. They came back to the house saying that the car wouldn't even come out of park and that we had received a parking citation...needless to say...I wasn't very happy. Isaac started reading it out loud and I didn't understand why he wasn't upset til I finally clued in that it wasn't a real citation..

When he read the part about Fleas of a thousand camels infesting your armpits is when I clued in that it wasn't real. Well, we drove the Odyssey over to jump the car and it started right up....thank goodness...I guess it was an April Fool's Day joke that ended up working out okay.

Andrew loved having his cousins and aunt and uncle at our house this week. He was pretty excited about having a baby in the house and any time he could he would try to hold him or play with him. It was fun to watch him with the baby. It is always nice to have more people to play with! Thanks for coming to visit Ryker and Michelle, Tory and Elizabeth!

My Big Boy Bed!

We set up Andrew's new bed just before his 2nd Birthday and boy did he love it. He wanted to play in it all the time and would constantly say "up" so we would lift him to the top bunk. We weren't quite ready for him to sleep in it so we kept putting him in the crib to sleep. One night he decided he was ready for his bed and marched right in when we said it was bedtime and knelt down to say prayers by the bunk bed. We said prayers and gave him some toys to play with and said good night. We left the room with no thought that he would stay and didn't hear anything from him after that. This is what we found when we went back to check on him and he hasn't been back in his crib since. What a big boy!

We celebrated Andrew's birthday twice...first, on his actual birthday and second on Sunday with all of the family. Andrew was spoiled by Granny and Grandpa Jewkes, Grandma and Grandpa Thornton, and his aunts, uncles, and cousins. It was so fun to watch him open his presents because he was completely into tearing into the packages. He got some really fun presents that should keep him entertained for a while.

We asked Grandpa Jewkes to make him a baseball player cake and he did a great job. I made sugar cookies and we had a fun time eating and celebrating. The kids all got balloons to take home with them. It is so fun to be able to live close to family and have a great time when we all get together.

So Isaac had to go to Florida for work this week and we have missed him a ton! I am especially jealous that he gets to be somewhere warm even if he doesn't get to be outside in it much. I told him I would post a picture of Andrew in his new outfit we bought for pictures, sooo...here are the few pictures I got. The one of him screaming was about how his pictures went, but this was him wanting the camera...watch out two year old tantrums! (It was the best one showing his whole outfit though.) Aunt Tawna had a birthday party and invited us to go bowling along with several friends and all of her family. It was the first time I had been bowling in a long time and I finished with a score of 136 or something like that...no bumpers even. Andrew had never bowled and it was his nap time so the first couple of times went okay, but then he was done. Let's just say he had a hard time taking his turn. We had a fun time bowling and eating yummy cake!

We had our ultrasound to see how the baby is doing and found out it's a boy and that everything looks great so far. We are excited to have another little boy, and I am sure Andrew will love having a great playmate.

Vernal Temple

After Christmas we had the great opportunity to go to Vernal and visit the Temple there. It was a snowy drive but we made it just fine. The Temple was a Tabernacle that was converted to a Temple in 1997. It was beautiful inside and a wonderful experience. Isaac was born in Vernal and this is a picture in front of their home there.

Christmas Traditions

It has been fun to start Christmas traditions with my own family. At the beginning of December each year we are able to go to the Festival of Trees. This year we went along with Isaac's parents and brother Caleb. When we first arrived we stood in line to see Santa and then walked through most of the trees. I love to look at the trees and gingerbread houses, it is amazing to see the creative ways that people come up with to decorate the trees. I kept trying to take pictures of Andrew and everytime I would squat down to get at a more appropriate level to take them Andrew would squat just like mommy. It was so cute! We finished up at the festival by buying a little bit of homemade fudge and then went out to dinner. It was an enjoyable night!

Meeting Santa

Well, my hope for Andrew to like Santa this year fell through. As soon as we got to Santa, Andrew started screaming. He wouldn't get anywhere near his lap. When Santa gave him his treat he was a little bit happier...oh well...maybe next year!

Christmas decorations and more...

I am really excited to take Andrew to the Festival of Trees tonight. We are hopeful that he will like Santa as much as he likes this Santa decoration. Last year we put him on Santa's lap and he proceded to freak out...we'll see how it goes.

Andrew was being quite the character after lunch today...he hasn't been feeling well for the last week so it was nice to see him acting a little more like himself. He has been cracking me up lately. I will ask him to show mom a big smile and this is usually what he gives me.

We had a great time in Rexburg for Thanksgiving this year. We don't often have the chance to get home to Idaho for the holidays with my work schedule. This year it all worked out that we could spend a few days there before I had to be back to work on Friday. We drove up on Tuesday and left Friday afternoon. I was supposed to work at 11 pm Friday night, but ended up getting cancelled....what a blessing. We had a great Thanksgiving meal with my parents and Tawna, Tassa, and Tawny. The turkey was made in the roaster oven and turned out moist and delicious. Andrew helped grandpa with making pies on Wednesday (I think he just ate the bananas while grandpa worked). It was such nice weather that we played outside a little. Andrew wanted to ride the scooter but wouldn't do it with grandpa until after Tawny had taken him out first. He loved it! I love this time of year and the opportunity to reflect on our blessings!

Well, I guess it is time I get around to posting our exciting news since most everyone already knows what it is. We are going to have a baby! Andrew has been aware of this from the get go since he is always head butting my belly or resting his head on me or wanting to be held more than ever. I think he is already feeling competition or something. So far, everything is going well. I loved the way my friend Susan announced her baby so I copied her...thanks Susan!

What a fun Halloween! We waited for daddy to get home from work and carved the pumpkin. Andrew lost interest fairly quickly, but the pumpkin sure turned out cute. We dressed Andrew up again as a T-Bird and I dressed up in my poodle skirt to go trick-or-treating. We left around 6 when it was still light out. The first door we went to he walked right up to and knocked on the door. I was quite proud of him. We went around the circle and then came home to eat some dinner. He didn't want to stay inside after dinner so we went out to a few for more doors in the neighborhood. I am not sure if he was tired or a little nervous about the dark so he had to be carried and that is a taxing job. We came back home and called it a night. I thought he looked so cute in his costume and carrying around his Halloween bag. He is growing up too fast!

We had a great time this year at the Halloween Carnival. We dressed up in 50's costumes. I made all of the poodle skirts after deciding that was the best way to dress up in 50's attire. I made mine and showed it to Isaac's mom and agreed to make the rest of them. It was a long few days making costumes, but I think they turned out pretty cute. The boys dressed up like T-birds...they looked pretty hot! We enjoyed the evening. Andrew went trick or treating to the doors at the church house with Aunt Emily. She said he cried at every one of them which makes me nervous for actual trick or treating. We hit the golf ball and then Andrew went running for it to keep it. Andrew and Emily also jumped around in the bounce house. We had dinner of hamburgers and hot dogs and then had a cake walk for cup cake desserts. Andrew was worn out by the end of the night. All in all, it was a great carnival and a fun time spent with family.

We had new family pictures taken after Nathan's mission return address. A family friend of Isaac's parents took the pictures and did such a great job. I am very excited about how they turned out!

We love getting together with some work friends of mine to have dinner. We decided to have a hot dog roast and campfire night up Big Cottonwood Canyon. We had a great time! Andrew loved being out in nature. He was very intriqued by the fire and sat down about 4 feet from it to watch it...then the marshmallows were opened for s'mores. He had to put them in the fire too, but was way too impatient for them to be completely done. He grabbed one and shoved it in his mouth and by the end of the night had had four of them. I am quite surprised that he fell asleep on the way down the canyon with that much sugar in him!

We had a great rain storm the other day which was such a novelty after a long dry summer. Andrew had a great time playing outside on the balcony in it.

Isaac's brother Nathan just returned home from his mission to California. We went to the airport to greet him and let Andrew meet his uncle for the first time. It is fun to have him home.

Andrew can spend hours playing in the water. He loves soaking himself with the hose and would rather water himself or the sidewalk than the grass. This was at Aunt Tawna's house when we were celebrating grandpa's 60th birthday.

After we went to the zoo, we came home and let Andrew take a nap before we went to Isaac's parents house for a party. We had dinner, cake and ice cream, and opened presents. It was fun to share our day with some of both of our families. Isaac's dad made us a giraffe cake and we floated the cake as is tradition in his family. The day went by so fast, but we couldn't have asked for a better birthday!

Isaac and I were born on the same day, just 5 years apart. We love to celebrate each year together. This year we decided to take Andrew to the Hogle Zoo for his first time ever for our birthday. It was a busy and very hot day, but we had a lot of fun. Andrew enjoyed all of the animals. We bought him a hat so that he didn't get burned and lathered him with sunscreen. He looked like a little safari hunter.

Andrew has started becoming so independent. He will not eat if we are feeding him most of the time so I have to give him bites to eat. Well, we have never let him eat corn off of the cob before so when he started begging for it I gave it to him. (I hadn't cut off all of the corn). He loved it and started eating just like he should. He did such a great job until he started eating the end of it.

Taylorsville Dayzz

We had a great time this year at Taylorsville Dayzz. It is always enjoyable to go to the park and have dinner and enjoy free entertainment with Isaac's family. Some of my family came this year as well. Imagine, a Beattles band, came on Friday night and we enjoyed the music. Andrew freaked out at the fireworks so he and Isaac left once they started. Saturday was the parade and Andrew had a hard time there as well. We made it through about half of the Jay White performance on Saturday night. He is a Neil Diamond tribute singer and very fun, but Andrew again was done pretty quickly. Saturday night fireworks are always amazing so I hope Andrew will be able to enjoy them next year. Road Trip to North Dakota

We went on a Road Trip to North Dakota to visit great grandma and grandpa Heller and to celebrate Grandpa's 80th birthday. We had a great time. The road trip seems to take forever but it is always fun to go with grandma and grandpa Thornton. Andrew did a great job sitting in his carseat the whole way. Tim, Kayla, and Maezlie carpooled with us and Tawna, Tassa, Tawny, Daniel, and Rachel met up with us on Friday. We stayed in several different hotels and enjoyed eating out, swimming, and pointing out wildlife along the way. Luckily we had a DVD player so Andrew could watch Baby Einstein videos to keep him entertained. When we arrived in Williston there was setting up to do for the party and finishing up some of the decorating before the big day. Most of mom's siblings had come to support grandpa. Lot's of our cousins were there as well. Grandpa and Grandma's family and friends all showed up. What a great turn out and a fun time we had! Here are some of the highlights!

Last week we had family pictures taken by a friend. It was a windy and sunny day and Andrew wasn't the most cooperative little guy, but we got a few good shots. Getting into everything!

Andrew is obsessed with getting into my kitchen drawers and carrying the utensils throughout the house. He continues to find more and more fun things...like the measuring cups and spoons...to play with. Even though I end up washing the dishes constantly, it is so fun to watch him explore.

Swinging

Tara and Greg had their new baby boy join the family last week on Saturday, (May 3, I believe). We went down to see him in the hospital on Wednesday last week. He was born 5 weeks early, after Tara spent a couple of days in the hospital on bedrest, and weighed 4 pounds 4 ounces and was 17 inches long. He is such a beautiful and sweet boy! We can't wait for him to be able to go home and be with his family.

Springtime Fun

Last Thursday was the most beautiful day of the year so far, it hit 80 degrees and there was no wind so we spent a large part of the day outside. Andrew was smothered in sun block and we brought out this hat we bought him last year. It barely fits, but it did the job of keeping the sun off of him. He loved playing outside!

I love to go out every once in a while to get a drink at Sonic and of course I like discounts so I go at happy hour. One problem I encounter is that Andrew loves my drink so he begs and screams in the back seat if I don't give it to him. I decided to buy him a small drink so I didn't have to go through the tantrum one day. He loved it....he played with the cup and straw as much as he drank any of it...and then he had to be changed by the time we got home.

He's Walking!

We have been working with Andrew on learning to walk. He has been doing a great job for the last week or so with walking between Isaac and myself, but now he has learned to balance and do it himself. He has also started scooting more around the house. I wouldn't say it is crawling, but he is getting around more.

Celebrating Easter this year was so much fun. On Saturday Isaac's family invited us over to dye Easter eggs. We each had a dozen to decorate and had a great time coloring them. I worked Saturday night, and when I got home Sunday morning the Easter Bunny had visited our home and left Andrew a basket with candy filled sport ball eggs, bubbles, a new froggie blanket, and a cute Sunday outfit. He enjoyed the jelly beans. Mom and dad thought he looked really cute in his outfit. Andrew and daddy had left mommy flowers and a present as well. We went to church and enjoyed the meetings we had. Andrew went with dad to priesthood and mom conducted relief society. We went over to Granny and Grandpa's house and had ham and potatoes for dinner and then proceeded outside to dispose of the eggs by playing egg toss off of the house and catching them in towels like water balloon volleyball. Andrew was constantly looking up in his pictures because Jacob was on the roof throwing the eggs down. We brought the wagon along and Andrew had fun being taken on rides by different people. It was a great Easter!

Cleaning

Andrew loves to play with any of mom's cleaning supplies. Anytime I am trying to clean my floors he starts begging to help by grabbing the broom, mop, vacuum, or duster. I sure wish letting him use them would work to keep the house clean. We bought him a little broom which fits his size better, but mom's is always the one he wants.

Learning to walk

We bought Andrew a walking toy to help him learn to walk. It didn't take him long until he was up and running.

Welcome home KaeDee!

We were so excited to be able to go to the airport to welcome Aunt KaeDee home from her mission to Detroit. I was slightly nervous because Andrew has had a bit of stranger anxiety lately. He had a great time playing with the family as we waited for KaeDee, and didn't cry at all when KaeDee held him. We had fun welcoming her home!

Brushing Teeth

Andrew has loved brushing his teeth since we started brushing them with a plastic scrubbing finger cover when they first came in. He would even try to help us brush our teeth. We finally got him a baby toothbrush and he loves to brush them himself now.

10 yrs ago: I was working in SLC as a nurse at Cottonwood Hospital as I finished up my bachellor's degree at BYU. I was living with my roomate Wendy and attending a single's ward.
5 Things on my list of things to do today:
1)Take care of my little Andrew
2)Go to lunch with Tassa who is coming to watch Andrew while I
3)Get my hair highlighted and cut
4)Finish the 4 scrapbook pages I started yesterday
5)Go to a ward meeting on emergency preparedness
Things I would do if I suddenly was a Billionaire:
I would go to an extremely prn status at work so I could stay at home with Andrew. I would buy a nice home and new car...a brand new Honda Odyssey most likely....not a billionaire car, I know, but one that would suit putting a baby in his carseat easier. I would hire a chef, a housekeeper, and a personnal trainer. We don't have any debt from Isaac's schooling, but I would have the finances to allow him to finish easily...and not work while doing so if he wanted to. We would travel and enjoy the beauties of the world....Oh to dream!

We had a great time on Sunday at Andrew's birthday party with lots of family and a few friends that joined us to celebrate! We had a safari theme party and Grandpa Jewkes made a safari hunter cake. We ordered sugar cookies for the animals. Isaac wanted to blow up balloons for the kids, so he bought a disposable helium tank. Andrew and all of the kids loved the balloons and punch balloons. Andrew had his own little bear cake and put out the flame with his hand. We felt bad that he burned his hand but he was okay quickly after and enjoyed picking at his cake. He cried when he got the head off of the bear. We opened presents after the cake and ice cream and all of the kids helped open and enjoyed playing with them. Here are some of the pictures we took.

It has been so fun to see Andrew grow and learn to love playing with his toys. I think his showing of affection lately has become biting the toys and sometimes us. He loves to dance to the music from his toy dog and it is really funny to watch him get into it. Here is a little clip of him playing.

I left to go weigh in at Weight Watchers on Thursday night at the time I would normally go to work and left Andrew with Isaac. I was only gone for about an hour but when I got home Andrew was just thrilled. He was more hyper than I have ever seen him. I asked Isaac what he had fed him because he was so excited. I don't think sugar free jello could have caused it so I attributed it to me being home when he thought I was gone for the night. (Maybe I am just making myself feel good). Here is a picture of him after rolling all over the floor.

Andrew's Fifth Haircut

Andrew was born with a full head of hair. We love it and it has been hard for me to cut it, or to have it cut. I have learned that it definitely grows back after it has been cut. Since Andrew frequently has a snarled bedhead in the mornings it was time for another cut. I took him to see Brenda, my hairdresser. She gave him a sucker and off she went trimming his hair. He did a great job sitting on my lap and eating his sucker. He finished his first sucker and had to start on another sucker before we left. Of course, he looks cute with his long hair or his shorter hair.

Rexburg Temple Trip

We had a great time going to Rexburg to see the temple open house. It is an absolutely beautiful building! When we drove in on Friday night the temple looked amazing all lit up on the hill, but by Saturday morning the fog had rolled in: the temple was not visible at all as we drove up to it. When we finished the tour, we still wanted a few pictures and the temple was just barely visible in the background. I loved having Andrew with us in the temple. He did a great job going through the tour. It was wonderful to be able to look at our little family in the mirrors in the sealing room. I loved the stained glass, the endowment room walls, and the chandeliers. Isaac's family drove up with us and it was nice to be able to be with his family on this quick trip to Rexburg. After the open house, we drove around Rexburg and I gave them a quick tour of my childhood town. Toby, Tammy, Tim, Kayla, Maezlie, Tara, Greg and the kids all had tickets to the open house as well. It was so fun to be able to spend some time with my family and just be able to relax. It stayed foggy the whole time we were in Rexburg so I didn't get any great pictures of the temple.

Splish Splash

Andrew loves taking a bath every day. He has a few toys that he loves to play with in the bathtub including rubber duckies, a raft with holes in the bottom of it and Piglet that sits in it, and a stuffed Winnie the Pooh with a life jacket on. Sometimes he refuses to let go of the toys he is playing with before getting in the tub. One of those toys happens to be the spatula which he will try to twist the raft on top of. He is an extremely creative little boy and can entertain himself with the simplest of toys. I love his hair with the shampoo in it. It is so fun to play with and get it to stand on top of his head.

Santa's Sleigh

We drove up to visit Tawna and to see Grandma and Grandpa Thornton on Sunday before Christmas. Andrew was a little bit sick so we didn't want to expose all of the other kids to him when they met on Christmas Eve. It was a fun drive up to Brigham City, but the real fun started when Grandpa and Grandma arrived with a sleigh full of presents. It is always fun to see what great things they buy for everyone for Christmas.

We had a great Christmas morning. We actually slept in until almost 9am and were shocked that Andrew slept that long. It took a long time to open presents, but it was fun. We missed having the whole family around to enjoy the holiday with.

Andrew loved playing with the boxes and bows.

His most exciting present was not his at all. He loves oranges and retrieved this one from dad's stocking. He decided he didn't like it as much when he bit right into it with the peel still on.

Going to visit Granny and Grandpa Jewkes was a treat after we opened all of our presents at home. Andrew got a fun Tonka truck to ride on or walk behind when he gets bigger.

Grandma and Grandpa Thornton gave Andrew lots of presents, but I think he loved this wagon the best. He sat strapped in the wagon for a long time after daddy put it together. He justed kicked his feet up on the other seat and started lounging after a while.

A Christmas New York Minute

Isaac had to go to New York for a meeting for work and I was lucky enough to have the time off of my work to go with him. I was so excited to go since I have never been to downtown New York, especially at Christmastime. We left at midnight on December 18 and came home in the afternoon of December 20. It was a whirlwind trip since Isaac worked on the 18th, we went downtown on the 19th, and flew home on the 20th. We were sad to leave Andrew, but his Aunt's Emily and Eliza took good care of him while we were gone.

We rode the elevator up to the observation deck of the Empire State Building. It was raining on the ground before we went up and snowing and cold and swaying on top. It was fun to look down to Rockefeller Center and see the ice skaters, and to see the other beautiful buildings and sites from above. We didn't stay out long, but I did look over the edge once or twice.

Winter Wonderland

I drove home from work on a Saturday morning after it snowed all night long. The snow plows had come through and piled the snow so high that I didn't dare go into our garage without having Isaac shovel. It was fun to see so much snow because it reminded me of winters in Rexburg, Idaho as I grew up. Andrew was just waking up as I got home and so we brought him outside to see how amazing the world looks clean and white! He held his hands out to catch some of the snowflakes.
